Hey Justin, I'm just looking at Cagle's "Best Political Cartoons of the Year" book and wondered what you thought of the four selections of yours he included? It seems that a lot of your cartoons wouldn't fit into the narrow category format they use so they ended up only picking the more specific tabloid "gag" cartoons like the ones you did for Anna Nicole Smith and Imus.

That's a very, very good question. Although Daryl has been a great help with my career, I his book is what it is. It's made to sell copies to a demographic of people who appreciate humor over commentary. It's made to compete against another annual best of collection. Bummer. With all that said, I generally think he does a good job. The reason I do cartoons is not to comment on pop culture of make a funny funny joke once in awhile. Those types of cartoons are nice breaks that remind the readers that I'm human. It's a bummer that the cartoons picked to represent my work were less thought provoking than the majority I draw (if any).
I was also bummed out to see that Matt Davies (who's a friend and a hell of a guy) was credited to my Barry Bonds cartoon. To make it worse, he was credited to my Barry Bonds cartoon that had a grammatical error (the syringe/home runs toon) I had sent a correction minutes after the mistake but I guess the file was never updated. Sucks for Matt. Sucks for me.
The OTHER thing that bums me out is how my name was either cut cut off or deleted from the toons. This was very surprising to see after reading this:
