Justin, thank you for not stooping so low as to do a Halloween joke. I think you're the only cartoonist this week who didn't.
I think you're right. I thought a Halloween cartoon was an easy joke and decided to avoid it.
Although there were a couple stuck out as being original. That includes Clay Bennett's cartoon here: http://www.cagle.com/caglecards/main.asp?image=http://www.cagle.com/working/071029/bennett.jpg
congrats on the gig with the NY Press. We are now bitter rivals in competing newspapers. Just kidding.
You really have some great placement. I don't think a newspaper printed and editorial cartoon that big since 1904.
I can see it now. Rival newspapers playing in a flag football game on a rainy winter afternoon. We'd start off by playing by the rules but then slowing start introducing tackling to the game. It starts off as fun but the competitive spirit begins to show. The score is tied. Then, on the second to last play of the game, you tackle me extra violently... I fall to the ground screaming that I have a broken leg. You laugh. I laugh. The leg is not what's important. What's important is that we're friends. Later in the week you come over to my apartment and draw a "Bors"style cartoon on my cast with the pen I gave you for your graduation years and years ago. We smile. The day is complete. We go and play more football. We forget that who we're drawing for.
then we have sex.
